NURS3200: Chronic Care II

Class Program
Credits 3

Mental health conditions are a growing demographic in all patient care settings. In this course, students will develop competency in assessing and planning care for patients with mental health conditions. Nurses are often the first on the healthcare team to encounter patients who have become agitated, combative, self-injurious, suicidal, grieving, anxious, depressed, and more. Mastery of the therapeutic communication skills necessary to manage these encounters is vital for the generalist nurse. This course has a required clinical component. Both must be successfully completed to progress through the nursing program as outlined in the BSN Nursing Handbook.
