Commercial Music

Objective

Designed for students pursuing a career in commercial music fields. Tracks emphasize Music Management for tours, artists, and/or venues, or Audio Production in live and/or studio settings.  Requirements below combine with the 23 Core Music credits to prepare a graduate of exceptional musicianship for industry service.

Requirements: 60 credits, 23 core credits, 21 concentration credits, and 16 credits abroad (CMC, Nashville or similar)

Additional Music Major Requirements:

  • Participate in a minimum of one large ensemble each semester
  • Study privately and participate in Masterclass in their primary performance medium each semester (voice or instrument) (additional fee required)
  • Complete a juried examination in their primary performance medium each semester
  • Pass the Keyboard Proficiency Exam MUSC2000 (Piano skills assessed during the first semester). Applied piano may be required (additional fee required)
