Objective
The English major offers students an opportunity to experience representative American, British, and world literature; to discover and develop an appreciation of ideas and values; to cultivate critical thinking; to develop a knowledge of the English language and its operation; and to strengthen writing skills.

Requirements: 36 credits of which 25 shall be numbered above 2999. In addition to the core requirements, students must choose either the Literature emphasis or the Creative Writing emphasis.

Literature Emphasis (15 credits)
Complete one 3000 or 4000-level course from each of the following categories (9 credits):
British Literature: (1 Course)
American Literature: (1 Course)
World Literature: (1 Course)
Complete 6 elective credits in English in consultation with your advisor. These elective credits should focus on vocational development and individual goals.
Creative Writing Emphasis (15 credits)
Complete 4 required courses (12 credits):
