Statement of Charges (Course & Fee Statement)

Students may view their charges and financial aid in the Course and Fee Statement on their NNU Portal.

Changes in the student’s course load may result in an increase or decrease in financial aid. When adding or dropping classes, students should contact their financial aid specialist to determine if any of their financial aid will be affected.  

  • Students are reminded that lenders deduct a processing fee from their Direct Student Loans, Direct PLUS loans, and Alaska Student Loan. Questions concerning your financial aid should be directed to (208) 467-8638, 1-877-668-4968.

Each student bears sole responsibility for total payment of their charges, including all communications with parents, guardians, and other third parties, as well as all other arrangements required for the satisfaction of the balance on the student account.  This includes church awards and all outside scholarships.

Fees and Other Charges for Past Due Accounts

All Fall 2026 Semester payments or payment arrangements are due on or before August 17, 2026

All Spring 2027 Semester payments or payment arrangements are due on or before December 18, 2026

Financial Clearance

The Office of Student Financial Services must receive payment in full or an approved financial plan to pay for a student to be considered financially clear. Services provided by Northwest Nazarene University, such as initial access to dormitories, continued network and course information access, etc., may be interrupted until Financial Clearance is obtained.

Past Due Charges and Fees

Any student account not satisfied by the posted due dates is subject to a late fee.  Any student account not satisfied by day 7 of classes may result in the administrative suspension of all computer network access. Any student account not satisfied by day 10 of classes may result in Administrative Suspension and/or Administrative Withdrawal of Enrollment. 

Interest accrues monthly on any past due balance at a rate of 15% annually.

If enrolled in a payment plan, the payment plan must satisfy the balance to zero.  Any payments not met on schedule must be remedied within 5 calendar days to avoid administrative suspension, additional fees, and/or administrative withdrawal.

Discharge Penalties

If students fail to pay their student account bill or any monies due and owing to Northwest Nazarene University by the scheduled due date and fail to make acceptable payment arrangements as defined by NNU to bring their account current, NNU may refer the delinquent account to a collection agency. If NNU refers the student account balance to a third party for collection, a collection fee will be assessed and will be due in full at the time of the referral to the third party. The collection fee will be calculated at the maximum amount permitted by applicable law, but not to exceed 40% of the amount outstanding. For purposes of this provision, the third party may be a debt collection company or an attorney. If a lawsuit is filed to recover an outstanding balance, the student shall also be responsible for any costs associated with the lawsuit, such as court costs, or other applicable costs. The delinquent account may be reported to one or more of the national credit bureaus. 

In the event a student defaults on their agreement to satisfy charges assessed to their student account, it becomes necessary to place this account for collection.  Collection fees, not to exceed 40% of the unpaid balance, plus any court and/or attorney fees resulting from the enforcement of this agreement. Any collection costs stated above are in addition to the principal, fees, and interest due on the account. All outstanding tuition account balances are considered qualified educational loans under I.R.C. § 221 and are extended with the express understanding that future repayment shall be made to the University. Qualified education loan under I.R.C. § 221, and as such, its exemption from discharge under the federal bankruptcy code, 11 U.S.C. 523(a) (8).
