Objective:
An Early Literacy Minor allows candidates to increase their expertise in literacy instruction by focusing on the earliest building blocks of literacy. Topics covered include developmental stages; language acquisition; current research, laws, and issues in early literacy; best practices for early literacy; assessment in early literacy; and instructional strategies for early literacy. A methods experience allows candidates the opportunity to hone the skills in a classroom setting.
